Trendsetter Middle East
Melting pot Dubai as a boundless playground for perfumistic creativity

Dubai enjoys many appellations: a transfer city between the East and the West, an important international hub for retailers and an exciting fashion capital which attracts well-known designers and newcomers alike. It is exactly this multicultural exposure that encourages a unique openness.

Being an international fragrance supplier, LUZI fragrance compounds, we use the challenge of blending the French perfumery traditions with the ones of the Orient to provide our clients with only the best of two worlds. Everything according to the newest trends, to the tastes of the mass, prestige and the niche market. Some trends are long-lasting, as can be observed with the on-going popularity of rose, oud and leather notes. However, one has to take a closer look to finger point the more subtle, yet potential trends of tomorrow. In what ways can the influence of the Middle East be considered as trendsetting? And how is the West influencing the fragrance market of the Middle East?

“Well treasured fragrances in the Middle East, such as amber and oud, are relatively new to the West and invoke a sense of oriental exoticism, of passionate desires. The elegantly faint hint of flowers or gourmand notes in the French perfumery are being substituted by more luxurious and heavier ones. In recent years, many Western perfume houses have implemented this oriental enrichment within their perfume launches. On the other hand, our Middle Eastern clients are seeking to express their identity with a more modern scent, while maintaining oriental scent characteristics. Fragrance enthusiasts of the GGC region prefer to smell traditionally well rooted and nevertheless be considered cosmopolitan. The younger generation, on the other hand, is more open to the latest Western fragrance trends.
As a result, the perfumes remain strongly oriental, yet they are open to French and Oriental twists. What’s more, Western concepts of signature scents, such as single fragrance perfumes, are gaining a lot of attention. This can be seen for the private collection launches and niche brands. ”
